9 LINE EDITING'S PROCESS
When you request a full editing service, it's good for you to know how we do it:
STEP 1:
COPY & PASTE
When we first receive your piece, we copy the entire thing and paste it on our own Google Doc. We check the original word count and keep track of all billing until you finally receive your edited project, but we will let you know how much it'll be right when we find it.
Submitting your manuscript to us in the form of a Google Doc is the easiest for us. Please supply an electronic copy of your manuscript, as we do not accept anything outside of a copy-&-pastable format (we accept Google Docs and Microsoft Word).
STEP 2:
INITIAL READTHROUGH
Once the copying &Â pasting is finished and we mark down how much you'll be charged, we begin to read through your manuscript without making any adjustments. This allows us to see what we're working with so we can create a plan of action.
STEP 3:
EDITING & REVISING
After we sort out the plan, we begin to make the necessary edits to your piece; this includes grammar, punctuation, typing errors, formatting errors, spacing errors, plot holes, and more.
Because this is syntax editing, we are not checking for factual accuracy if you provide such a project. We're here for what's right in front of us but are leaving all statistics to you or someone who works with them. If there's something the editor knows is incorrect, you'll be informed, but that's the most we can do regarding facts.
STEP 4:
SECOND READTHROUGH
As we finish with the editing and revising, we thoroughly read through our copy in order to find any additional errors and to make sure we catch anything else. We do definitely make errors along the way, so this step is important.
STEP 5:
TTS READER
Though reading helps us find potential errors, the text-to-speech reader is a crucial step. In case we miss something along the way of the second reading, the text-to-speech reader will read anything we've typed aloud—including spelling errors.
We highly recommend using a text-to-speech reader when doing your own personal writing. It's a lifesaver.
STEP 6:
COMMENTS & FINAL FEEDBACK
As we finalize the text-to-speech reading, all we do afterward is make some comments on our Google Doc copy of what we did, why we did it, and some notes for you.
As an editor, it's not only our job to tidy up your project, but also to provide you with an opportunity to improve on your own writing. We'll inform you of some things we noticed and may give tips to help your future writing.
STEP 7:
FINAL PAYMENT
After the process is finished in its entirety, we'll send you an email to inform you that we're finished and the fee will be included. In order to confirm you pay for your service, we're going to wait to give you the Doc until after we're paid through PayPal—and it's processed correctly. We do understand how this may be a deterrent, but it ensures both sides are fulfilled. We guarantee that you'll be given the edited copy once the fee goes through.
You'll need to confirm the receipt right on PayPal in order for the payment to fully process, but you'll get our edited copy before then. Payment doesn’t go through until you confirm the receipt, which will be available 48 hours after you make the transaction. This applies to the Flat Rate Fee as well.
STEP 8:
SENDING THE FINAL PRODUCT
Once payment has gone through PayPal and we confirm the transaction with you, we send you the final product! You're free to do with it as you please, but again, you'll need to confirm the receipt once you receive your copy and 48 hours have passed.
